Circle of Time

"Circle of Time"

"You Will Always Be Here"

This is the second CD from the group Amarna, which features Mark Winkler sharing vocals and harmonies with Marie Cain. Although quite different from Markâs solo Jazz- oriented CDs, those who are fans of Mark should check this out for another side of his lyical and vocal skills. Amarna makes music that can only be categorized as "Soundtracks for the heart."

Shadowplay

"Lyrically poetic and musically soothing. Amarna spotlights dramatic vocal exchanges between lead vocalists Mark Winkler and Marie Cain."
                                                      - Arizona Light

"Soft Love songs done with sensitivity and simplicity. The lyrics are dreamy and romantic and shaded with many meanings. Perfect for private, contemplative moments."
                                                - Heartsong Review

Mark got the idea to do the group Amarna after listening to the early Windham Hill albums of George Winston, William Ackerman and Alex De Grassi. "I loved their mood appeal- how the compositions were linear and simple, leaving lots of room for one's imagination to nestle next to a nuance and dream there."

Their first Higher Octave Records release, Shadowplay, brought them international recognition, being released in Great Britain, Germany and France-- as well as becoming big hit in Japan-- where Amarna performed in Tokyo.

Circle of Time continues the tradition of the first cd- but it expands the lyrical canvas beyond talking about love. Introducing the topics of rememberance and loss in Mark's composition "You Will Always Be Here With Me" and in fighting the good fight and doing the right thing in "Angels." It also contains the beautiful wordless "Amarna" harmonies accompanying the Dan Siegel composition, "Distant Shores" and the exquisite vocals of Marie Cain on "And The River Ran" and "Something That's Real."

"For those who like their music soft and contemplative... an intriguing blend of instrumental and vocal textures."
